@TreyNKennedy makes me wonder ... Has @HallmarkChannel warped the word #Hallmark into a synonym of #Cheesiness? | @Wikipedia #Cheesy #Hallmarks #AllTheHallmarksOf
The Wiki-Biography (#WikiBio?) of the comedian Trey Kennedy is linked through 'those words' below; but first I want to understand those words better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Hallmark” is built on the sense of "the Official Mark of the Gold|smiths' Hall (location of the |Assay Office in London, England)" (now with the general sense of "Sign of Quality" ... at least before The Greeting-Card Company commandeered the word to mean ...)
"Cheesy" (in a derogatory way), a sense which might be "an Ironic Reversal" of the |British Slang that meant Fine, |Showy; or it might be from Medical writing that described Morbid substances (|Tumors, |Decaying Flesh, etc.) ... extended to mean |Cheap, Inferior, Ignorant, Stupid (probably due to the fact that Cheese is essentially 'Rotten Milk'). #Cheesed #CheesedOff #Cheesier #Cheesiest
Trey Kennedy informs us on the apparent cheesy-level:
