#TheRightUnderstanding of "Prayer": #Conciliating My Conflicted Mind (which tries to Hold onto Two of Lord Jesus' Conflicting Teachings) | #Conciliate #Conciliation
You hear all the time "I'll pray for you," or "I need you to pray for me," or "We all need to pray for this/them." But that always makes me think of something Lord Jesus told the people whom He was teaching "how to pray"---before He launched into The Our Father (a.k.a. The Lord's Prayer), He told them to pray alone (behind the shut door, where only God can hear them)!
I might discuss this with 'the forum' (where you can make money by replying) in a discussion linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Conciliating (a word supporting Reconciliation \ #Conciliated #Conciliator #Conciliary #Conciliatory #Conciliative)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Shout Together, Call to Unity."
People who want to keep-praying for others (& -asking others to pray for them) are welcome and encouraged to continue! It's just ... there are a couple of things to understand ...
The main understanding we need is 'who Jesus was talking-to': with The Lord's Prayer, He was instructing 'the crowd'; the teaching that makes people think 'the more people pray for you, the better!' is probably His teaching The Apostles that 'where two-or-more are gathered in His name, there He is' & 'if two-or-more agree on anything you pray for, it will be done in Heaven,' but that teaching was done in secret!
