Why You Do/Don't Have to Say #inJesusName when you Pray | @CopelandNetwork @RethinkFaith @StackExchange @BananaBooksATX #inHisName #inHerName #inTheirName #inOurName #Matthew18twenty #WordByWord #ChapterByChapter #VerseByVerse
Preachers use Matthew 18:20 to 'forger' the truth of their flocks' teachings---imagining that "being gathered in Jesus' name," means something like 'meeting fellow Christians in the church to listen to Preacher.'
While such fellowship is a good thing- and while most preachers have no other intention but great Glory to the Father & Son & Holy Spirit of ZOE (the Greek for that treasure which Kenneth Copeland finds to be the life-/love-force of Yahweh), 'meeting-up at worship-service' is not what Jesus is describing to his disciples.
And that's not even what "in His name" means! The Christianity Stack-Exchange indicates that--just as Christians usually end their prayers with "in Jesus' name" right before the "Amen"--'in Jesus' name' means something like "with Jesus' #Permission" or "at Jesus' #Invitation."
I study the exact words of that Scripture later on, yet Jeff explains the even-larger context in a report linked through 'those words' below; but first I want to understand those words better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Permission (\ #PermissionSlip #Permissions #Permissible #Impermissible #Permit #Permitted #Permitting #Permissive)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Let Go-, Send- (Mission) Forward."
The word “Invitation (\ #Invite #Invited #Inviting #Invitational)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Treat-, Entertain-, be Pleasant-Toward."
Deeper on- (not 'The Full Context of-,' which Jeff explains in the video at the link; but 'the possibly more-accurate translation of-') Matthew 18:20:
Where 3757[e] | for 1063[e] | are 1510[e] | two 1417[e] | or 2228[e] | three 5140[e] | gathered together 4863[e] | unto 1519[e] | - 3588[e] | My 1699[e] |
name 3686[e] | there 1563[e] | am I 1510[e] | in 1722[e] | [the] midst 3319[e] | of them 846[e] | The words used here are BibleHub's translations (using Strong's Concordance (the word's listing-number provided)) |
Actually, the StackExchange interpretation (probably talking more about 'when people say "in Jesus' name, Amen" at the end of prayers), describes it as 'Jesus giving "us" (His disciples) His power-of-attorney.'
