@WatchMojo reminds us that Pop-Music's #Vernacular extends BEYOND Language (with their #Top10 #NonEnglish Hits) | @YourDictionary

Watching the WatchMojo-video (linked through 'those words' below), I wondered if there was one word that meant 'foreign language.' I looked it up (on Google); and they sent me to YourDictionary, and the closest thing I found there was 'second-language' 😒

I thought maybe I could use #dialect, but that wasn't what I was thinking of ... hmm---maybe #creole (which is widely thought to be "a language spoken in the New Orleans region of Louisiana," but is actually "one born in a country but not indigenous to that country"--like the dialect of French spoken by early (but still America-born) settlers).

A few suggestions YourDictionary gives for "language" might also fit---Vernacular, #Prosody, #Prose, #Parlance ... that's plenty for now ...

WatchMojo shares their highest-rated alternate-language songs in a video linked through 'those words' below; but first I want to understand those words better. And I find that you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word |Vernacular| is built on ancient words that mean Home-Born Slave, Native
The word |Creole| is built on ancient words that mean "to Grow."
The word |Prosody| (\ #Prosodiacal #Prosodial #Prosodist)” is built on ancient words that mean Song- or Poem-To, -Forward or -Near.
The word |Prose| (\ #ProseWriter #Prosaic #Prosify #Prosy)” is built on ancient words that mean Turned (BentForward
The word |Parlance| (\ #CommonParlance)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Speak," Parley ... and yes, PARLER).

 ... and, Might as well cover |Dialecy| (\ #Dialectal #Dialectic #Dialects)" while I'm thinking of it---a word built on ancient words that mean "to Speak (Pick out Words (Collect, Gather)) Across, -Between."
