That poll is linked through 'the main word' below; but I feel it's more important to understand that word better. And I find that you understand words better when you look at the other words at the bases of the words you're thinking-of ...
The word “Cobbler” (a Deep-Dish Fruit-Pie with a Hard Scone-Crust) is probably so-named because its shape reminds people of #Cobblestone (it's also the name of a fruity alcohol-drink, probably a shortening of #CobblersPunch). 
The word "Cobblestone" is built of the words #Cobble & Stone (it's 'the Small, Round, Water-Worn Stone fit for Paving' or 'the Cherry-Stone or -Pit'). 
The word "Cobble" (possibly also 'a shortening of "Cobblestone"') is built on ancient words that mean "to Mend or Patch (like the Shoe-Making 'Cobbler' does)" or Cob (on the notion of Lumps Left in a Clumsy Repair-Job). #Cobbled #Cobbling #Cobbles #Cobblers
