The Smart YouTube Mafia member reviews D.C.'s history (and their possible futures) in a vlog you can get to through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; the vlog about D.C.'s possible State-hood doesn't mention "Hoodlums," but ... first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The word “Hoodlums” (the word that 'Hood' might be a shortening-of) is built on ... no one's exactly sure, but #TheHoodlumGang was the name of a group of Thieving Boys in |California, so it came to mean "Young Street |Rowdy, Loafer" or might be built on ancient words that mean "|Ragamuffin."
