instr.(uctor) #EmmaMcAdam gives us ways to "Dismiss the #intrusiveThoughts" | #TherapyinaNutshell @GrayShrink? @TherapyNutshell @SciFi_FantasyIM
Reading various texts on 'How to Meditate,' I'll often see them say things like "When your mind is relaxed, random thoughts will try to #intrude on your The Meditation; simply acknowledge the thoughts & dismiss them (giving them permission to leave), and let them pass as you return to The Meditation."
I guess that idea was being presented in such an environment that the thoughts were supposed to be regarded as 'demons trying to get into your brain.'
That still might be a good way to consider them, but Instr. Emma explains 'how to deal with them as "exactly what they are" (thoughts that YOU are having)' in a video you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The word “Intrude” is built on ancient words that mean "to Push-, |Thrust- (Squeeze, see Threat)-In."
Instr. Emma teaches us about the CBT of Cognitive #Defusion (for a minute there, I thought she said "Diffusion"---which is something 'slightly different'😋).
Actually, I think she means #UNfusion (reversing the thoughts' #Fusion that makes you think they're are "a part of you"), since "DEfusion" is 'the process of Removing the Fuse (from an Explosive or a Situation).' Instr. Emma's version (which we're calling Unfusion) does prevent explosions; but ... not the same kind ...
The word Fusion (which Instr. Emma's techniques un-do) is built on ancient words that mean "to Pour" (as |Melted Metals are Poured Together in order to Blend as they Cool down (like Smooth |Jazz)).
#Intrusive #Intrusion #Intruded #Intruding #Intrudes #Intruder #Intruders #IntruderAlert #Intrusively #Intrusiveness #Fusion #Fuse #Fused #Fusing
The noun Fuse (which Instr. Emma's techniques can be said to detach) is built on words that mean "|Spindle" (influenced by words that mean "|Spindleful of Hemp |Fiber" and "|Musket Fired by a Fuse" ... the device that breaks an electrical circuit is called a Fuse because of its shape, and NOT because it melts).
