The word “Hearken (like #Hark #Hearkening #Hearkened #Hearkens #Harken)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Give Ear, Listen (in an Active Way (that's what 'the Transitive form of the verb' means, yes?)), Hear (in an Intensive Way)" (Hark was originally a Hunting Call for Attention, with Hark Back originally referring to hounds' retracing their Trail in order to Pick-up the Scent they had Lost).
