January is named after a god whose name is built on ancient words that mean "one who Begets #Offspring." The word "Offspring" is built on built on ancient words that mean "they who #Spring-Off of or -Away from." 

The word "Spring" is built on ancient words that mean "to Move, Hasten, Desire Eagerly, Hurry" (words that also influenced the name of the season; though that sense is actually short for #SpringOfTheYear, on a special sense of Spring that means "the First Appearance, Beginning, Birth, Rise, Origin").
