#HappyBirthday to the #March4 #BirthdayCohort (with @JamesLankford & @PatriciaHeaton & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on #NationalPoundCakeDay | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains the #PoundCake in a report accessed 'the bold hyperlink(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)

Pound Cake is so-called because it's a Cake uses about a #Pound of each ingredient in its recipe.
The word “Pound” ... well, most of its meanings (the first three I found) come from almost-unrelated roots.
The "Unit of Weight"-Pound ( #Lb. (from Latin libra, which is also the source of £) #Poundage #PerPound #PoundOfFlesh #TowerPound #MerchantsPound #TenPoundHat #QuarterPounder) is built on ancient words that mean Hang, Weigh, Draw, Stretch, |Spin (probably because people measured weight by 'how far the weighed thing stretches a cord').
The "Holding Facility for Animals (or -other Beasts-of-Burden #Impound #Impounded #Impounding)"-Pound is built on ancient words that mean "to |Dam up, |Enclose" (same foundation as |Pond).
The "Violent Action"-Pound ( #Pounded #Pounding) is built on ancient words that mean "to Crush by Beating, |Pulverize, |Bruise" (same foundation as that beneath words that mean |Fragment).
Then there's the "Pound-Sign (#)"-Pound, about-which I've already started an entry.

It 'thrills me' a little that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Pisces ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Catherine O'Hara, Patricia Heaton, Antonio Vivaldi, Knute Rockne, former Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, Steven Weber, Oklahoma's U.S. Senator James Lankford,

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

Or maybe you'd like a reminder of 'where you've seen one of the ones we DO mention'; Ask in your comment!

My Heart of the Nation calendar (which tells me which celebrations we (Catholics) are celebrating, and which color Vestments the clergy are wearing) tells us that this day's in Violet (with an Optional Memorial for St. Casimir)
