#HappyBirthday to Y'all (in the #December8 #BirthdayCohort with @NickiMinaj & #DominicMonaghan @DomsWildThings & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on #BodhiDay | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains the #Bodhi tree (and the awakenings found by The Suffering Prince as he sat beneath it) in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Bodhi” is built on ancient words that mean ... I'm not sure if it's the name the biologists gave it (a Fig-variety of Bonsai-Tree they call Ficus religiosa (|Venerable |Fig-Tree Sacred to the Gods), which can be found in #Bodh |Gaya (|Bihar, India) or in |Anuradhapura (|North Central Province, |Sri Lanka)), but its homonym in Sanskrit means "Perfect Knowledge (as in Bodhisattva)."

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Sagittarius ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Mary (Queen of Scots), Nicki Minaj, Jim Morrison, Sammy Davis Jr., Flip Wilson, Sam Kinison, David Carradine, Kim Basinger, Teri Hatcher, Sinéad O'Connor, Ann Coulter, Gregg Allman (of The Allman Brothers Band), Dominic Monaghan (supporting hobbit in the 'Lord of the Rings' series), Jean Sibelius

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

Or maybe you'd like a reminder of 'where you've seen one of the ones we DO mention'; Ask in your comment!

My Heart of the Nation calendar says that we (Catholics) are celebrating THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY (Holy Day of Obligation) with the clergy wearing White Vestments for the Solemnity
