#HappyBirthday to #LeaMichele (lodestar of @leamicheleweb) & The Honorable #NeilGorsuch @JusticeGorsuch1 & ... you? (the #August29 #BirthdayCohort) on #ChopSuey | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates #TheFamousPeople @YourTango @MySundayMass
... or on 'whichever of these holidays & or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'
Holidays Calendar explains a lot about Chop Suey in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Chop Suey” is an 'Americanization' of the Chinese (Cantonese) tsap sui (雜碎 or 杂碎) "Odds-and-Ends, Miscellaneous Bits" (much like "May Day!" is an Americanization of the French for "Help Me!")
I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...
Today's Birthday-Cohort
Astrologically, their sign is Virgo ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: comedian Nicole Byer, astronaut Chris Hadfield, James Brady (behind The Brady Bill), George Montgomery, Robin Leach (host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?), Michael Jackson, Elliott Gould, John McCain, Lea Michele (on glee),
... Rebecca De Mornay (I know her as Chloe's mom on LUCIFER), John Locke (the father of Classical Liberalism), jazz-great Charlie Parker, The Hon. Neil Gorsuch, Isabel Sanford ("Weezie" of The Jeffersons) ... and lots more I don't recognize
(and--if you or someone you know about has a birthday today
--please mention them (and how you know them or -know
about them) in the comments, thanks)
