#HappyBirthday to #CarrieAnneMoss @AnnapurnaLiving & @BoBurnham & ... you? (the whole #August21 #BirthdayCohort) on #Spumoni Day (in the U.S.) @HolidaysCalendr | @411Holidays @BirthdayMates #TheFamousPeople @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or on 'whichever of these holidays & or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains the predecessor of #Neapolitan in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Spumoni” is built on ancient words that mean |Foam (|Spume).
The word “Neapolitan” is built on ancient words that mean "of |Naples" (the name was probably a bad decision, as it's also the name of a form of |Syphilis; but it's original name probably sounded too much like "|Spew" ...

(Another difference between the two desserts---the former is made of the ice-cream flavors of chocolate,  pistachio & cherry; as opposed to the latter's chocolate, vanilla & strawberry.)

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

Today's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Leo (on the cusp of Virgo) ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Carrie-Anne Moss, Peter Weir, Count Basie, Christopher Robin Milne, John Osteen (Joel Osteen's father), Bishop Francis de Sales, comedian Bo Burnham, Usain Bolt, basketball-legend Wilt Chamberlain, Hayden Panettiere (the cheerleader who's the key to saving the world on HEROES), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones in Sex & the City), Sergey Brin (co-creator of GOOGLE), Kenny Rogers, fellow musician Joe Strummer ... and lots more I don't recognize (maybe you do recognize some ... you can find the date at the birthday-cohort link)

(and--if you or someone you know about has a birthday today
--please mention them (and how you know them or -know
about them) in the comments, thanks)

My Heart of the Nation calendar says that we (Catholics) are celebrating St Pius X, with the clergy wearing White Vestments for the Memorial
