BuzzFeed explains 'the pic that inspired the #Barbie-meme we celebrate today' in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The name “Barbie” is short for #Barbara (named after the doll's inventors' daughter), built on ancient words that mean "Foreign (which reminds me how the ancient writers named the #Barbarians ... so-named because the Language that the Strangers were Speaking just sounded like "BAR-BAR-BAR" ...
('Barbara' is also the name of the patron saint of Architects, Geologists, Stonemasons & Artillerymen).
