#Paganism that Fools Dr. @DiscoverTheBook Barnett into Rejecting Catholicism (or at least -Rejecting its Romanism, "Throwing Baby out with Bathwater?") | @theBibleHub

Dr. Barnett outlines it in a video linked through 'the main word' below; but I feel it's more important to understand that word better. And I find that you understand words better when you look at the other words at the bases of the words you're thinking-of ...

The word “Paganism” is built on ancient words that mean "to Fasten (the Signs that Mark the Border of the Rural Districts)" (religious anti-paganism could be from each Area's common practice of Worshipping its own Local God ... or maybe from the Military jargon for a Civilian or Incompetent Soldier (when it was good to be a 'Christian Soldier' etc.)). #Pagan #Pagans

I think Paganism is just the SEVENTH of Dr. Barnett's 'Reasons "The Bible Says" You Shouldn't Be a Roman Catholic,' following:
  • Mass - I forget exactly what he has against it (other than its apparent 'worship of things other than God')
  • Mary - the way Catholics pray "to" her (tho all Catholics know we're just praying 'through' her, the church's texts & prayers don't emphasize her 'go between'-status enough), and the way we venerate her to some "Queen of Heaven"-status---when we all know that that's Mrs. Dr. Barnett's office, AmIRight? 😉
  • Tradition - the way it gets further-&-further removed from its Biblical base (e.g. the way all the churches celebrate Christmas, though the celebration isn't mentioned in The Bible (unless you believe Arnold Murray's calculation of the timing of John the Baptist's 'celebration' within the womb))
  • Images - the way we direct our worship toward 'pictures/sculptures of Jesus' or 'pictures/sculptures of saints or -of Mary or -of God' or crosses or candles etc. We know those are 'only symbolic representation' of the actual worship-target, but again our texts & prayers & actions don't communicate that enough.
  • Sacraments - We know the objects in these rituals only symbolize the power Our Father gives us, but Catholic texts & -prayers don't communicate 'we do this in memory of the truth' enough.
  • Purgatory - the idea that we're not beamed-up to Heaven immediately after we die, and that our loved ones can 'buy our way out of the waiting-room' (as we can do for them) by buying additional 'Indulgeances' from the Catholic Clergy. (Something I've never heard preached in a Catholic Church.)
I agree with him about the rejection of the church's "Romanism," but will probably defend the "Catholicism" (on the basis of 'The Bible only leading to The Word of God, which (The Bible says) is "written on The Christian's Heart"').
