First, let's look at 'the group of words' that give "that word" ("Resonance," below-linked to the selection of Annette Capps' books you can order) a place to connect to your vocabulary ... deeper sources that firm the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “|Resonance| (& #Resonant #Resonator #Resonating ... modern form of #Resonation)” (Prolongation of Sound by Reverberation) is built on ancient words that mean "to Echo, Sound Again."

On a recent broadcast of her program (started by her father) Concepts of Faith, a friend of hers discussed 'the power that music gives the truths you learn from songs'---the explanation that 'resonated with me' 😉 was ... well, he described how--when his family-band was rehearsing, and his own instrument (a guitar, I think) was lying in the corner--he heard it 'playing along with the band.'

That is an example of sympathetic resonance. Makes me think of the phrase I mentioned above---how things 'resonate with you' (usually because it 'echoes' your own feelings or experiences). It's a perfect metaphor---your experience & education 'tune' you to a certain frequency, and the music activates that frequency in the harmony as you play out a melody (feeling "right" as your actions are 'consonant' & feeling "wrong" as your actions are 'dissonant').
