Hoping to Help #FreeBritney from @BritneySpears' "Prison" of #Conservatorship | @WomensHealthMag @PopCrush @SkyNews

I once saw that "Free Britney" was trending on Twitter. Looking into that a little, I found out that Britney Spears was living under a Conservatorship. (Is she still? Did she get out from under it before she got married, or was it just transferred to her husband?)

'That word' (below-hyperlinked to Women's Health's timeline of Britney Spears' conservatorship-troubles) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

A “Conservatorship” is when a |Judge Appoints a Responsible Person or -Organization (the #Conservator) to Care for another Adult (the #Conservatee) who cannot care for themselves or manage their own finances (reportedly giving the #Conservator full Control over the Conservatee's Financial- & Medical Affairs, and -over who may Visit the Conservatee).
The word "Conservator" is built on ancient words that mean "to Keep Watch, Maintain (root of Protect)" 'intensely' (Com-).

Britney Spears has been 'under conservatorship' since her erratic behavior in 2007 & -08.

That basically means that she 'is not her own person' (cannot enter into contracts—meaning she cannot work unless signed-out by her conservator (her father Jamie Spears ... until recently, when conservatorship was transferred to her care-manager Jodi Montgomery)).

I'm not seeing exactly why she would want 'out from under conservatorship.' I am living under a guardianship—which is like a conservatorship, I guess.

Maybe it has something to do with 'also being a parent' (which Britney is–her 14-year-old son is the reason her conservatorship  was taken away from her dad–and which I am not) ... you can't 'sign your kids' permission-slips or co-sign their loans.'

I'll look that up and tell you the difference soon, but first ... PopCrush provides some more background
