Maybe @POTUS45 *Really Did* mean #Eminent (and not #Imminent) ... or maybe #Immanent | #Eminence #Imminence @ColbertLateNight @VocabularyCom
Maybe President Donald Trump really meant that Gen. Soleimani was 'famous for the destruction he was known for causing' (especially since Trump authorized the 'assassination' SEVEN MONTHS AGO).
As Stephen Colbert points out (at about 3-minutes into the video),
'Thos words' (below-hyperlinked to the Vocabulary.com entry that adds a mention of "Immanent") is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Eminent” is built on words that mean |Out (see Ex-) + Hill (to Project)” (i.e. Distinguished in Character or Attainments).
The word “Imminent” is built on words that mean |Into, In, |On, Upon + to |Jut Out (also related to Hill, to Project)” (or Threaten, |Menace, |Impend).
The word “Immanent” is built on words that mean “Into, In, On, Upon + to Dwell (or |Remain)” (contrasted with Transitive (in Medieval Philosophy), later with |Transcendent).
Know anything else interesting about that? Comment!
