The Generation of #BabyBoomers (the elders that youngsters dismiss with "OK #Boomer!") @IlizaSchlesinger #Baby #Boom #Babies #BabyBoomer #BabyBoom

Iliza Schlesinger (an Elder Millennialdescribes the #BabyBoom: "Soldiers came back from war (Vietnam, Korea, etc.) and BOOM! time for babies!"

"OK Boomer" came about as a reaction to 'a typical #BabyBoomer' who complained that "millennials and Generation Z have the Peter Pan syndrome, they don't ever want to grow up; they think that the Utopian ideals that they have in their youth are somehow going to translate into adulthood."

'The young snowflakes' respond with "OK Boomer" to dismiss or mock such narrow-minded, outdated, negatively-judgmental, or condescending attitudes of older people—a retort for perceived resistance to technological change, climate change denial, marginalization of minorities or opposition to younger generations' ideals.

Those words (below-linked to my post on the popular names of generations) are built on older words that form the foundations of today's lexicon ...

The word “Baby (with the diminutive Babe)” is built on words that mean “Babble” (imitative of Baby-talk, Young, Innocent, Fresh-&-New (Attractive)). #Babies #Baby
The word “Boom” is built on words that mean “|Long |Spar run out to Extend the Foot of a Sail (a |Ship 'booming' when at |Full-sail)” (Sudden |Burst of Activity, make a Loud Noise, |Hum, Rumble, |Roar). #Booming #BusinessIsBooming #TechBoom #OilBoom #HousingBoom
