MSNBC comments on 'that devotion' in the article linked through |that word|. Maybe I'll add some notes beneath (and/or you might start/continue the discussion in the comments), but first I was caught by |that word|; so I found out a little more about |that word| (below-linked to the article that brought |that word| to my attention) and share my findings with you below---.
... and I have to mention that a lot of help (a share of revenue, extra topics from magazines & advertising, etc.) comes from WowApp: Using the Wowism Community's Fairness to Prevail over Economic Greed
The word |Devotion| sits at the peak of the high tower above ancient words that mean "to Vow Down or -Away (see |De-)," which evolved (to today's meaning) through ancient words that mean "to |Dedicate, Sacrifice |Oneself, Promise Solemnly, practice |Piety/Loyalty/|Fealty/Allegiance to 'the devotion's object.'"

MSNBC's Brian Tyler Cohen notes how--even though we all SAW Trump 'practically narrating' his committing the crimes he's probably accused-of--"leading Republicans"-Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kevin McCarthy & even Ron DeSantis jumped up to call 'those accusations' lies (even before the accusations had been made, I think) and to accuse the Biden White House of "weaponizing the government."
And I'm reminded of Christians' devotion to a being who--though it created them & loves them & became human in order to die as a sacrifice for them--will burn them to ashes if they don't believe it is who the other Christians all say it is. I'm reminded of Christian convicts (whether they were Christians before-or-after they were sent to prison) whose families continued to love them & support them no matter how heinous the crime they'd committed.
But what are Republicans devoted-to? I'm sure Liberals would respond 'to Crowning the Desperate Cheeto their Emperor, Burning all the Books about Struggles for Liberty, and Forcing All the Women to wear Electric-Fence Chastity Guards!'
But--while it may seem that their policies could stretch them so far--they are (as I vaguely recall Chris Rock saying) 'equally wrong in opposite direction'---they want fewer people in the government in order to get their operations more efficient; they only want to affirm 'the needed life-skills' in schools (let the kids discover "struggle" out in the real world!), and they want American women to be honorable (and not shirking their responsibility as women).
(And I'm sure those aren't 'the entire Republican arguments'
on those matters---I'm not a Republican, so I'm pretty-much
guessing; and I'll speculate deeper in separate posts later,
but you can comment below if you want to get started on
any of them.)
any of them.)
As Democrats want 'everyone to have the right to be wrong -different (as long as they're not hurting anyone),' Republicans want 'everyone to have the right to be right (which means they have to "fix" the people who are wrong'---that's not coming from the mouth/mind of any Republican or Democrat, so of-course Republicans & Democrats would each phrase their own description (and possibly the description of the opposite) differently.
