Bing presents its findings on the #Beatles celebration on a page you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The band-name “Beatles” (taken after they tried the names Quarrymen (the band was started by a group of students from Quarry Bank High School), Blackjacks, Johnny and the |Moondogs (before the three guitarists found a permanent drummer)) was taken (originally spelled #Beatals, changed to #SilverBeatles, then shortened to Beatles) in honor of Buddy |Holly and the |Crickets
(Paul & John were fascinated by 'the insect name' that also (unbeknownst to the Texas-band) meant 'a boring ball-game'; so the next 'little insects' they thought-of were Beetles, but "spelling it with an 'A'" made it more like they were 'little Beat-bugs' ... or--as Lennon put it--
"... I changed the BEA, because 'beetles' didn't mean two things on its own. When you said it, people thought of crawly things; and when you read it, it was beat music." (Anthology, page 41).
