I mention my Hawaiian Shirt (and other goodies my roommate brought me from her trip to Hawaii) in a paying discussion you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
A #Hawaiian Shirt (a.k.a. an #AlohaShirt) is ... interesting; sources indicate that it was developed by a Japanese tailor who sold shirts (of Silk and later of Rayon) to tourists---shirts that were quickly made so they could buy them and wear them on the vacation.
The original Hawaiian Shirts were made of a "heavy blue-&-white Plaid Cotton." The 'modern' Hawaiian Shirts (with the 'floral print') took-over when the G.I.s brought home souvenirs from the South Pacific (or maybe the floral print grew more popular after #Hawaii became a State).
The word “Hawaiian” is built on ancient words that mean "Place of the Gods" (referring to Volcanoes Mauna Kea & -Mauna Loa).
