Microsoft starts us with MediaFeed's report (on 30 pieces of etiquette we need to review) linked through 'that initialism' below; but first I want to understand that initialism better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
R.S.V.P. stands for Réspondez s'il vou Plait (Respond, If You Please)---an initialism now used as a verb for 'Responding to an Invitation' (e.g. #RSVPed 'yes,' #RSVPing 'no'; or the noun, as in 'counting all the #RSVPs').
