#HappyBirthday to Y'all (in the #December9 #BirthdayCohort with #KirstenGillibrand @SenGillibrand & @SimonHelberg & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on #NationalPastryDay | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains #Pastry-history in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Pastry (#PastryChef #Pastries #PastryCook)” is built on ancient words that mean "Place for-, Art of-, Condition of-, |Quantity of- (that's the suffix #ry, from #ery #ary) #Paste (built on ancient words that mean Dough ... I'm not exactly sure how, but they say it came to mean "|Glue" #CutAndPaste #Pasteboard #PasteUp #Pasties #Pasty #Toothpaste #Pate ()).

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Sagittarius ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Kirk Douglas, hopefully-Governor Stacey Abrams, Dame Judi Dench, Redd Foxx, John Malkovich, Donny Osmond, Margaret Hamilton (The Wicked Witch of the West in THE WIZARD OF OZ), sports-commentator Dick Butkus, Simon Helberg, Beau Bridges, Kurt Angle, (original trash-TV) talk-show host Morton Downey Jr. (no known relation to Robert), Michael Dorn (Worf, the Klingon aboard the Enterprise), chess grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, Kirsten (NOT Kyrsten Sinema) Gillebrand (former Presidential candidate), Mario Cantone, Dick Van Patten, John Milton, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., circus-performer Emmett Kelly, violinist Joshua Bell

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

My Heart of the Nation calendar says that we (Catholics) are celebrating St. Juan Diego C., with the clergy wearing White Vestments for the Optional Memorial (Violet Vestments otherwise)
