"Sting" is a meaning in the base of the word "Pick" (discussed in my "Pick Your Plate"-post linked through 'that word' below); but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Sting” is built on ancient words that mean "to Stick, Prick" (I'm not sure how it applies to "Police doing Undercover Entrapment"; and they say the 'proper' past-tense is 'Stung,' but the transitive past-tense "Stinged" sounds better to me ("I stinged you" rather than "I stung you" ... maybe "I stang you?")).
