Why Are People So Afraid of #Lepers, Mr. @Monk_USA? | #Leper #Leprosy #Leprous #Leprophilia #Leprophobia (might not actually be 'a word')

I watch MONK (an old TV-show about a former-officer whose OCD--tho it keeps him off the force--gives him special abilities crucial to solving crimes that otherwise would have been mishandled) on Amazon Prime.

In one episode, Mr. Monk solves a case 'involving leprosy'---it's a lot more-involved--the actual solution ... I might discuss it later--but the point I'm focused on right now is that (both 'regarding one guy that claimed to be a leper' and 'regarding the doctor who used to be a leper & -who has been cured for decades now') anyone who knew about 'the person's leprosy' was a) afraid to touch the possible-leper & b) anxious to 'clean themselves' (Mr. Monk would've dunked his hands in boiling water & would've doused them in kerosene to light them on fire if his nurse weren't there to stop him!) if they might have touched.

'Amazon Prime's offer on that series' is linked through 'the main word' below. Here, I list a few 'root-words' that tie that word into our lexicon....

The word “Lepers” is built on ancient words that mean "something Delicate & Weak" (to |Peel, |Flake; |Scale, Small |Shaving ... |Effeminate).
