The name “Munkustrap” is most-likely a |Nonce word (one of those " |Peculiar & More |Dignified" Names), though it may be a play on |MonkStrap (a kind of |Shoe popular in the 1920s) or it may be a play on the name of an English city (maybe |Manchester or |Lancaster).
Other productions have given him different names: Sorrescha, Monksistapp, Munkossun, Rumleskaft, Myszolap (lending credence to the 'rumor' that CATS is entirely a scat-session for 'musical theatre'-geeks.
