#Pillars of @Scientology - Sturdy Principles (and 'Some' Celebrities) that Support 'the Flimsy Flame-Wads' (the inescapably Human Executives of the CSI) | @BestLifeOnline @ColumbusAlive @CBSNews @PopCulture @MSN_Entertain @TheRichest_Com @thisisinsider @billboard @NYPost @HuffPost @Ranker @CheatSheet | #Pillar

Well, 'they lay out their plans for improving humanity' at the website linked-to through "that word" below.

What I show here is 'the group of words' that give "that word" a place to connect to your vocabulary ... deeper sources that firm the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Pillar” is built on ancient words that mean Stone |Barrier (based on unknown origins ... tho there is the idea of |Raised |Ground, an idea supported by 'The Pillars of Hercules' (two hills on either side of The Strait of Gibraltar, said to have been left there after Hercules separated them).

I'm interested in 'the conflict between parishoners & ex-members' because so many of them listed below are "Celebrities" (and I'll put in links so you can read about the ones you've never heard-of):
  • There are those who support CSI (as of the date mentioned ... important because many of the celebs who are now against it were once it's biggest, proudest supporters)
    • Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Elizabeth Moss, Jenna Elfman, Laura Prepon, Danny Masterson, Lisa Marie Presley (... maybe she came back?), Nancy Cartwright, Juliette Lewis, Giovanni Ribisi, Isaac Hayes, Erika Christensen, Doug E. Fresh, Sonny Bono, Beck (Hansen, who split with them in 2019 ... maybe he 'got out the church-approved way?), Marisol Nichols, Michael Peña, Greta Van Susteren, Alanna Masterson, Kirstie Alley, Catherine Bell, Eddie Deezen, Jason Dohring, Milton Katselas, Anne Archer, Michelle Stafford, Jeff Conaway, Ethan Suplee (9/10/2020, BestLifeOnline)
    • Kelly Preston, Edgar Winter, Chick Corea (11/06/2020, MSN slideshow)
    • Will Smith, Barbara Walters (not a Scientologist herself, but has spoken in defense of the organization on The View), Goldie Hawn (also probably-not a parishoner, but a staunch defender of people's right to choose it), Larry King, Dustin Hoffman (also not a Scientologist, but also defending the group) (2/18/2019, ShowbizCheatSheet)
    • Priscilla Presley, Chris Masterson, Bijou Phillips, Sky Dayton, Marisa Ribisi (Giovanni's sister, Beck Hansen's wife) (1/18/2018, PopCulture)
    • Jenna's husband Bodhi Elfman, Peaches Geldof (apparently (as there's no date on the CBS slideshow, I have to look at the blurb that linked to it) 7/3/2012)
  • those who oppose CSI

    • Leah Remini, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Lisa Marie Presley (quit & wrote a song about it), Paul Haggis, Christopher Reeve, Jason Beghe, Michael Fairman, Larry Anderson, Katherine McPhee, Diana Canova (5/25/2018, ShowbizCheatSheet)
    • Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Demi Moore, Jeffrey Tambor, Russell Crowe, Patrick Swayze, Neil Gaiman, Candice Bergen, William S. Burroughs, Peaches Geldof, Sonny Bono (says NYPost), Priscilla Presley, Charles Manson, Mimi Rogers, Vince Offer, Nazanin Boniadi, Isaac Hayes (says BILLBOARD), Don Simpson (10/30/2020, Ranker)
    • Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Michelle Visage (3/15/2018, insider)
    • Jason Lee (and 19 others on a list on The Richest (5/13/2018), but I try not to repeat names I've already mentioned in the 'same' (pro- or con-) side of the list ... Sonny Bono, Lisa Marie Presley, Leah Remini, Jeffrey Tambor and others I've seen on most of the pages)
    • Forest Whitaker (1/18/2018, PopCulture)
    • J.D. Salinger, Leonard Cohen (3/23/2015, Entertainment)
... and there were a few more 'celebrities I saw listed both for- & against-it (either they were for it & then saw that it isn't right, or they once rebelled but were welcomed back when they saw they couldn't go on without it)

... but wait ...

Why Did I List All Those 'Flimsy Flame-Wads' (people whose worth depends more on 'others' than they're willing to admit), when I Wanted this post's Main Subject to be The Principal Principles of Scientology?

Basically to show that--no matter how ugly-or-beautiful the founding principles of a group may be--the only thing that attracts people to it are 'the shiny windows & -paint (on the outer walls) & -draperies & -façade that can be seen from the outside.'

(That's why I might've called this post "Tent-Poles"---reminiscent of the shelters of the Exodus Hebrews & -the prayer-tents of American Evangelists-on-tour)

Those Principles:

I'll examine those more in-depth a little later, but first I want to look at
'what I think Scientology's biggest problem has been'
