#GreatPerformances @GPerfPBS explains the #Legacy of "Fiddler on the Roof" | @PBS @Lin_Manuel @Quora #JewishTelegraphicAgency @JTANews #AllTheLyrics (@AllTheLyrics? @Lyrics2All?)

Well, 'they explain' in the episode on the DVD you can buy with the order-form linked-to through "that word" below.

What I show here is 'the group of words' that give "that word" a place to connect to your vocabulary ... deeper sources that firm the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Legacy” is built on ancient words that mean "to Send with a Commission, Appoint-as |Deputy or -by a Last Will (see |Legate ... related to |Delegate?)" (of |Property- or Gifts left by will, |Lease)

Watching the episode of Great Performances, I was struck by (HAMILTON-writer/producer) Lin-Manuel Miranda's dedication of the song L`Chaim to his new (still first-&-only) wife at his wedding-reception (which he chose because--tho he was raised Catholic (and now is either "Agnostic" or "Questioning," if not accepting his honorary Judaism), and his wife is either 'likewise' or still Catholic--it was "the only father- & son-in-law song in the canon.")

'It struck me' that weddings should be less about 'two people promising to love one another' (tho that should still be a big part of the marriage---an idea echoed in the song Do You Love Me?) and more about 'two sets of parents/guardians letting go of their young adult children, trusting each to the other.'

I could- and probably will-explain some of the ideas I get from Fiddler on the Roof later on, but--sort-of like Annette Capps (and special guests) frequently discuss along with other Concepts of Faith--the teachings are probably taught better when strengthened by 'the Sympathetic Resonance' of Music:
