My #Thug Catharsis: Overseeing some #Thuggish #Thuggery in the Virtual so I Don't Need the Violence in the Real | #ThugLife (the instant game on Facebook, not necessarily the Rap-Album or the @BenShapiro-series) @NEWSWEEK
For the past month or so, I've been playing a Facebook Instant Game called Thug Life (basically, you spin the slot-machine to earn money (to buy new equipment for your hangouts) & -chances to rob other players or damage their hangouts).
I hadn't heard much about "Thug Life" (the acronym for "This Hate U Gave Lil' Infants eF Everybody," from Tupac Shakur's song "Thug 4 Life"). And I found out that-&-more about the use of that word.
'That word' (below-hyperlinked to your chance to join my 'posse' (that's what they call 'a group of thugs,' right)) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Thug” is built on words that mean “to |Cover” (|Gang of Religious Robbers in India who |Cunningly Cheated- & |Strangled their Victims, Concealed the bodies in graves dug with Consecrated pickaxes, and Tithed a third of their |Plunder to the Goddess Kali (a practice known as Thuggee) ... transferred English sense of "|Ruffian, |Cutthroat, |Violent |Lowbrow").
This NEWSWEEK article reports how the word evolved from 'performer of a dark ritual' to 'a politically dismissive euphemism for "the N-word."'
Know anything else interesting about that? Comment!
