#HappyBirthday to You (#September22 #BirthdayCohort of @JoanJett & @TomFelton & ... ) on #Hobbit Day | @HolidaysCalendr @inDeepGeek @BirthdayMates #TheFamousPeople @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays &or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains the birthday-celebration for Frodo & Bilbo Baggins in a report linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)

The word “Hobbit” is built on words that mean “Hole-Dweller” or "Small" ("In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit" Tolkien, who probably subconsciously took the word from The Marvelous Land of Snergs or Babbitt or a list by Michael Denham).

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

Today's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Virgo (on the cusp of Libra) ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: comedian Bonnie Hunt, Laura Vandervoort (KalEl/Superman's cousin on SMALLVILLE?), Tommy LaSorda, anchorman Neil Cavuto, Andrea Bocelli, Ayatollah Khomeini, Thomas Felton (Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies), Joan Jett (not dead yet (as far as I know, 9/17/2021)), Tatiana Maslany (ORPHAN BLACK), Scott Baio, David Coverdale (frontman for Whitesnake ... funny I don't even SUSPECT he's dead, but he's older than Joan Jett!), Michael Faraday (inventor of the electric motor and a primitive Bunsen burner) ... and lots more I don't recognize (maybe you do recognize some ... you can find the date at the birthday-cohort link)

(and--if you or someone you know about has a birthday today
--please mention them (and how you know them or -know
about them) in the comments, thanks)

My Heart of the Nation calendar says that we (Catholics) are celebrating The First Day of Autumn, with the clergy wearing Green Vestments for the day
