I always thought 'quantum' involved interdimensional stuff—akin to STAR TREK tele-transportation (heavily influenced–of course–by QUANTUM LEAP).
Then I re-watched ANT-MAN AND THE WASP ... I guess my mind was 'somewhere else' the first time I saw it, because I hadn't noticed 1) their heavy use of "Quantum" & 2) that their 'Quantum' was not exactly 'the "Quantum" I grew up with!'
Their 'Quantum' meant something more like "sub-molecular" (which I think they also used) or 'smaller-than-quarks'-ular—the space in-between particles, where Time is a physical element ...
The word “Quantum” is built on ancient words that mean “as Much” (how Great an |Extent? how |Far? ... brought into physics–directly from the Latin–by Max Planck & Albert Einstein— #quantumtheory #quantumechanics #quantumphysics #quantumjump #quantumleap).
And then I saw a recent episode of NOVA, where they talked about Quantum Physics. The main 'new fact' that sticks out in my mind: that the atomic model should actually look more like 'a cotton-ball' and less like 'a clean set of electrons orbiting a cluster of protons & neutrons' (subatomic particles' locations being more a matter of 'probably being in any number of places' and not so much 'being in any one place or the other').
Oh, and AntMan did say "Oh Boy" 🤣
