The suffix “-in-Laws” (added to 'the titles' (Mother-, Father-, #BrotherInLaw, #SisterInLaw) of 'those to whom you are Related by Marriage) is to show that one's Relatives-by-Marriage are not one's own Blood-Relatives, but rather Adopted Relatives, through the Middle English policy that your Marriage-Pact gives your -in-Laws the same Rights & Duties as your Biological Relatives.
