Microsoft News report's on Apple's move in an article you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The product-name “iPod” (which Apple originally wanted to use for its 'Internet |Kiosks' (which never saw the light of day), but was reassigned to 'Apple's first portable music-player' by copywriter #Vinnie #Chieco) is built on 'the popular use of "I" to describe things connected like- (or actually connected by-) The Internet' and 'Sci-Fi |LifeRafts in |OuterSpace' (Chieco was inspired by the line "Open the pod-bay door, Hal" from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey).

The name “Vinnie” is usually short for #Vincent (or other names containing "Vin"), built on ancient words that mean "to Conquer."
