#DSTforeverNow? Possibly, if a recent SB (which @SenateFloor passed without much debate) goes thru @HouseFloor & @POTUS. @EndDST2022 explains what they're thinking | #DaylightSavingTime @bingrewards @time_gadgets
A recent Bing Rewards quiz informed/reminded me that The Senate (but not The House nor The President ... not at the time I wrote this, anyway) has passed a bill aiming to make "Daylight Saving Time" the only time that all America's time-zones use (with the self-assured suspicion that all the other 'twice-a-year time-shifting' countries will follow suit).
We discuss that decision in a paying forum you can access through 'the bold hyperlink(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
enddaylightsavingtime.org gives a History of Daylight Saving Time ... basically (as much as I can remember---check the linked report to confirm), it started with the sundial-clocks, and England instituted Standard Time (based on the Shepherd Gate Clock in #Greenwich);
Benjamin Franklin noticed that the French normally wouldn't wake up until noon, wasting hours of daylight everyday. His writing about this inspired people to try to set their areas clocks so that their waking times coincided with the daylight hours.
The town-name “Greenwich” is built on ancient words that mean Green Harbor or -Settlement.
