A Truly #Horrifying Sketch from the Halloween-episode of @nbcSNL | #EgoNwodim @eggy_boom, @KyleMooney & @JasonSudeikis in #ParentTeacherConference
It plays like 'the opening of a porno-flick,' and is really just another one of The Nerd Table's "imagine what it would look like if this kind of thing actually happened"; but ... I guess they (Ego Nwodim herself, I hear) imagined it so well that it could put fear into all married men's hearts (especially the average looking husbands who--through hard-work, devotion and a pinch of luck--wed cornucopia-of-beauty and manage to raise a child) ...
But now I need to add some context, so that 'such husbands' aren't afraid to bring their wives to such parent-teacher conferences ...
... but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Horrifying (\ #Horrify #Horrified #Horrific ... I'm not sure if 'Horrifying' is actually a word)” is built on ancient words that mean "to Cause #Horror."
The word "Horror (\ #Horrors #Horrendous #Horrible #Horrid #Horripilation #HorrorFilm #ChamberOfHorrors) is built on ancient words that mean "to |Bristle (|Shiver with fear or coldness)" (a foundation shared with words that mean "to |Ruffle one's feathers, |Hedgehog, Rough").
The context: Mrs. Wilkerson is actually (in the 'universe' of the sketch) the wife of the teacher, and "Mr. Wilkerson" (you can tell by the 'cheesy sitcom'-delivery of the "gets from his mom"- and "gets from his dad"-jokes 🙄) is actually a friend-of-the-teacher helping him & his wife with their little role-play
