The name “Esther” might be built on the name of the Near-Eastern goddess |Ishtar, or might be built on ancient words that mean Star (the meaning of the root of the original Hebrew אֶסְתֵּ֣ר).

I sometimes get a little 'thrill' from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that thrill from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

Astrologically, their sign is Leo ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: Martin Sheen, Jay North (TV's first live Dennis the Menace), Jo Marie Payton (the mom from Family Matters & Perfect Strangers), Tom Brady, Martha Stewart, Tony Bennett, Michael Ealy (who's been in a lot of things, most of which I haven't seen ... I recognized him from Almost Human, which only ran for one season), director John Landis, John C. McGinley (Perry Cox in Scrubs), Masahiro Sakurai (creator of video-games like Kirby, Super Smash Bros....) ... and lots more I don't recognize (maybe you do recognize some ... you can find the date at the birthday-cohort link)
