"HBO" (the cable-network that's meant to be its customers' "ticket" to movies & events they previously had to go out to see) stands for "Home #BoxOffice."
The word “Box Office” is the name for the Theater-Office in which the Box (for Ticket-Money ... not for those |Seats in an Enclosed-|Section of the |Auditorium 🤓) is kept (leading to 'Box Office' being used as slang for 'the |Amount of Money a |Movie makes').
