#Apologetics - Believers (like @GenesisHappened @JWarnerWallace @AIG @Sean_McDowell @GotQuestions @OneMinApologist @RFupdates @AClearLens @Frank_Turek @ThePoachedEgg @TheologyTweets @RZiMhq @GregKouki @STRtweets) respond to Doubters
'A discussion posted after watching Genesis Apologetics' Debunking the Seven Myths that Deny Biblical Truth' is linked through 'the main word' below; but I feel it's more important to
understand that word better. And I find that you understand words better when
you look at the other words at the bases of the words you're thinking-of ...
The word “Apologetics” (a |Formal Defense (of Christian Beliefs, originally)) is built on ancient words that mean "Away from, Off + Speech (cf. |Collect-, |Gather Words)" (the "Regretfully Acknowledging Failure"-meaning is linked to the barely-related word Apologize). #Apologia #Apologist #Apologism
- Myth 1: “While The Bible may be ‘inspired,’ by God, it’s not ‘inerrant’ and parts of it are just myth.”
- The "myth" is right. Sure, "God's Word" is the inspiration you receive while you read The Bible; but every Bible is WRITTEN BY HUMANS (don't believe me? find the copyright information in the front cover ... if it says "©God" (or -Yahweh or -Jehovah or -Our Father or -Holy Spirit or -Jesus or -Yeshua), please forgive me)
- Myth 2: “The Bible’s account of Creation is only metaphorical, the six creation days were not ordinary days, and creation really unfolded over millions of years.”
- The "myth" is right. Or not; the exact schedule isn't the point of the story
- Myth 3: “Genesis 1 and 2 provide two different accounts of creation.”
- The "myth" is right. Technically.
- Myth 4: “Adam and Eve were not real people, only allegorical figures in the story of human evolution.”
- The "myth" is right. Sorta ... the same way George Washington was not a real person (i.e. he was- & they were, but that's not as important as 'the characters in your head.'
- Myth 5: “The Bible’s account of Noah’s Flood is just myth and was drawn from writings from the Ancient Near East.”
- The "myth" is right, in a way. The implied specifics might not be the right ones.
- Myth 6: “Moses did not actually write the first five books of the Bible.”
- The "myth" is right. 'Moses wrote the Torah' just like 'George Bush Sr. tore down the Berlin Wall.'
- Myth 7: “Dinosaurs died out millions of years ago, did not walk with man, and are not mentioned in the Bible.”
- I agree with GA. 'Dinosaurs'---the actual creature probably wasn't actually dead, but the word "Dinosaur" hadn't been invented yet! The movie mentioned "Leviathan" (a word I've been seeing used in both MARVEL- and DC-adventure series), but the movie spent a lot of time describing the creature named by the word "Behemoth."
