Anderson made that comparison on a recent episode of Anderson Cooper 360---he remembered video (shown during Trump's second impeachment-trial) of Washington, D.C., police-officers informing headquarters that they'd "Lost the Line" (when the January-6 protesters grew from 'an angry crowd' to 'a violent mob'---from 'upset audience-members' to 'attempted insurrectionists').
Anderson said that that's a sign of a bigger 'Line' we've lost ... he mentions 'the line between right-&-wrong (or maybe good-&-evil),' 'the line from "The Founding Fathers' intent" to "the system we have today"' ...
Or maybe those weren't the exact words---you can probably check at one of the podcasts linked through 'the main word' below (podcasts of highlights of Anderson Cooper 360 episodes); but I feel it's more important to understand that word better.
