Why I'm 'Against' "Christians' Prayers" - They're Not Much More than #Cheering for Friends, Family, Celebrities | @CNN @EdenKnows

'That word' (below-hyperlinked to some discussion of 'unheard cheering') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Cheering” is built on ancient words that mean "Face (where one sees another's State- or |Temper-of-Mind as indicated by the Facial Expression)" (Horn, |Head, Mood, Humor, Gladness, Joy, Shout of Encouragement).

When you go to watch a ball-game, do you seriously believe that none of the players think they're going to succeed unless you remind them that they can? Of course not!

So why do people think God needs to be reminded that they (or their fellow humans) don't want to be sick or poor or lonely or bored or hated?

Oh, there's nothing "wrong" with telling people you're 'praying for them,' or -with 'asking others to pray for you' (under a few conditions---in summary, 'as long as you're correctly handling everything you're given the power to handle').

It just annoys me when people mistake 'prayer' for "actual advice" or when they start to think of it as 'a substitute for professional medication (not necessarily "medicine," but rather "professionally advised exercise & rest & nutrition").'

Like the 'televangelized' innocents who reject modern medicine in favor of the snake-oil of Preachers' Motivational-Speeches (which they adapt from The Bible).
