Side with @MarkRuffalo about 'the "Niceness" of the #Host of @TheEllenShow to @GeorgeWBush'? @BuzzFeed | #Hostess #Hosts
'To summarize the situation: talk-show host Ellen Degeneres & her wife were seen enjoying an NFL-game with (former) President Bush & his wife. When Ellen was criticized for it, she doubled-down and announced on her talk-show that George is her friend.
And she was criticized for that by people who want to see President Bush 'brought to justice' for all the bad things that happened during his Presidency (things in which he had a deciding vote—'the military-response to "the violence at the World Trade Center" (a.k.a. 9/11),' 'blocking the advancement of LGBTQ+ rights').
Many celebrities defended Ellen's 'standing-firm on friendship.' But Mark Ruffalo (Incredible Hulk/Bruce Banner, etc.) can't let that slide. He says:
"Sorry, until George W. Bush is brought to justice for the crimes of the Iraq War, (including American-lead torture, Iraqi deaths & displacement, and the deep scars — emotional & otherwise — inflicted on our military that served his folly), we can’t even begin to talk about kindness,"
I see both sides on this: Ellen's right to "be nice," but she didn't have to be 'Ellen'–the talk-show host and celebrity–to be friendly—she could've worn 'a mask' (or probably 'shades and a scarf') and been just as 'nice.'
That's "not her style," I know; but ... I guess Mark Ruffalo doesn't believe Ellen (as an iconic talk-show host) should be associated with someone who many think was 'a warmongering tyrant.'
Maybe it's wrong to think that "image is everything." But Mark Ruffalo isn't paid to be "Mark Ruffalo," he's paid to be 'whomever the big producers hire him to be.' When I see him out in public, my subconscious sees 'the latest character he played' before my conscious mind pipes in "No ... that's Mark Ruffalo, the guy who played 'that iconic character'!"
Just like people who–when they see Ellen Degeneres out in public–think "Hey! It's that homosexual comedienne talk-show host ..." before their conscious minds pipe in "... you mean Ellen Degeneres.'
That word' (hyperlinked to BuzzFeed's fuller description of the situation) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which the our lexicon stands ...
The word “Host” is built on “Lord (Powerful Master) of Strangers ( |Guests)” (someone with whom one has Reciprocal Duties of Hospitality, Animal or |Plant having a Parasite).
Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong—that's one reason
Our Father God said "It is not good for the man to be
alone": "Because the man'll think he's right until someone else shows
him why he's not"—Won't you show me
if I'm right-or-wrong in the comments below?
