The word “Click” is |Imitative of "a Weak, Sharp Sound" (the Tick of a Clock, a Key in a Lock (leading to the figurative sense of "Becoming Friendly at First-Meeting").
The #MouseClick is probably related to the Computer-|Mouse's similarity to the Remote-Control (which was known as a #Clicker since you could use it to operate the Device (usually a TV or a |Garage-Door) 'at the Click of a Button'). So on The Internet, using the |Mouse to place the Cursor over a Hyperlink & pressing the Button is known a Click.
