That thought comes up as I comment on commentary (from MSNBC, regarding The House's hearings on the January 6 (2021) riots) in a paying discussion you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)

The Republican Party's objective isn't any different than the Democratic Party's or the Libertarian Party's or any other political party's objective---to insure the peace & prosperity of America's people.
The Parties differ in their proposed methods for providing peace & prosperity. Those methods? (and this is just a guess) Republicans want to do it by 'rule of law' (holding- & enforcing long-established principles (e.g. The Bible, Supreme Court precedent, etc.); Democrats want to do it by 'rule of opinion' (majority rules); Libertarians want to do it by 'rule of necessity' (where they only need rules where there might be disagreement).
But that's not 'what they believe BECAUSE they're in the Party'; they believe those things, meet other individuals who believe them, and their agreement BECOMES the Party!
