Maha Shivaratri is Hindi (I guess) for "the Great Night of #Shiva." 
Shiva is the Hindu god of Destruction & |Reproduction, whose name is built on ancient words that mean "|Auspicious, |Propitious, Gracious" (some tie it to ancient words that mean "to Lie," |Bed, |Couch, Beloved, |Dear---changing the spelling a little #Siva #Sivaism #Sivaistic and possibly making the word 'a euphemism' (a la "Make an Honest Woman out of you" or "an Easy Lay")).

This discussion came up as I was thinking that--just as we're exiting Black History Month (a celebration of 'something I am not')--we're entering Women's History Month (another celebration of 'something I am not').

If I were jealous, though, I could comfort myself with the knowledge that this is also "Brain-Injury Awareness Month"---although that does make 'Women's History Month' a little less special ...
