#HappyBirthday to Y'all (in the #February8 #BirthdayCohort with #CecilyStrong (the @CecilyFanClub knows ...) & @SethGreen & ALL the #FamousBirthdays @Bing lists) on #PreserenDay (Prešeren Day, in #Slovenia) @Ancestry @PONS_Verlag @WordAZcom | @HolidaysCalendr @BirthdayMates @YourTango @MySundayMass

... or -on 'whichever of these holidays, awareness-dates &/or event-anniversaries you celebrate!'

Holidays Calendar explains the #Slovenian history (involving poet France #Preseren (Prešeren), I'm sure) in a report linked through 'the hyperlinks' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)

The name “Prešeren” is built on ancient words that mean ... it's not clear ... ... there are no entries at definitions.net, but it asks "Do you mean 'press run' or 'preacher man'? that last one ringing with the meanings of a few suggestions from Ancestry; users of PONS suggest it now means "Merry, |Jaunty, |Breezy";
... WordAZ tells us that--besides his poems and this holiday--his name also shines from #ThePreserenAward (or #TheGrandPreserenAward), #PreserenSquare, #ThePreserenMonument, #ThePreserenHouse & #TheSlovenianSingingSocietyPreseren.
The word "Slovenian (i.e. of #Slovenia)" is built on ancient words that mean "the |Slavs" (like |Slovakia, but 'on the other side of Austria-&-Hungary')

I sometimes get a little mind-spark from realizing that I have the same birthday as several famous people, and enough other people get that spark from seeing their birthday-cohort (both the currently-famous & the probably-not-yet famous) that I figure it's worth doing 'one of these entries for every birthday' ...

This Day's Birthday-Cohort

Astrologically, their sign is Aquarius ... no matter WHICH stars they were born under: James Dean, Jack Lemmon, iconic pin-up Lana Turner, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, Gary Coleman, film-accompaniment-composer John Williams, comedienne Stephanie Courtney (whom I don't know may be PROGRESSIVE-Insurance-saleswoman Flo), Mary Steenburgen, Vince Neil (from Mötley Crüe), Cecily Strong, Nick Nolte, novelist John Grisham, Jules Verne, Paul Donald Wight II (Big Show from the WWE), Seth Green, Dmitri Mendeleev (founding developer of The Periodic Table of Elements), Ted Koppel, Kate Chopin (author who blazed the trail for feminism), Alonzo Mourning

... and many others (most of whom are at the 'Birthday-Cohort' link)---

you might comment telling why we should recognize a special one I missed ...

My Heart of the Nation calendar (which tells me which celebrations we (Catholics) are celebrating, and which color Vestments the clergy are wearing) tells us that this day's the Optional Memorial (in white) for St. Jerome Emiliani or St Josephine Bakhita (the clergy in Green if they don't opt for today's saints)
