Why is the #Clingy @GOP #Clinging #Clingingly to 'the Useless Chaff' that should've been left behind with the rest of the Rotting Fertilizer? @BooMan23 @monthly answers a question @LateNightSeth brings up
Seth Meyers takes "A CLOSER LOOK" at the blatant hypocrisy of The Republican Party in a video linked through 'that word' below; but first I want to understand that word better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Clinging (\ #Cling #Clung #Clingstone)” is built on ancient words that also serve as the foundation beneath words that mean Cluster, |Narrow |Gorge, |Press onward, |Clench, |Latch.
The MONTHLY-article explains that the GOP clings to Trump for the same reason that Civil War Southerners (even those who didn't personally own slaves) clung to the slave-industry's survival---they weren't 'the masters' themselves, but that was mostly "their lack of slave-owning parents" (i.e. they were white, so they could own slaves; but they didn't have the extra money and/or the farmland for them to work ...
(just like "Trumpublicans" (I have trouble calling them 'Republicans') cling to The Orange Elder because--though they're not draft-dodging, tax-dodging, debt-dragging, allegedly cheating, -'grabbing' Rich Kids themselves--they feel like they could be as long as Trump is their leader.
(It's like 'the reason Liberal women want to be able to have abortions': it's a terrible-terrible process to commit, but it seems 'tyrannical' of the government to "forbid" you from committing it!
