@Maddow wonders Why People Ignore Doctors & Use the #TrumpSupporter #Faurmacy (or #Fauxrmacy ... #FauxPharmacy for people like @DMAN0853 @letsgotrump1103 @PresidentArmy @JamesHu55469760 etc.) instead | @Twitter
A recent THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW ... it ran a lot like an episode John Oliver's LAST WEEK TONIGHT (the show where he reveals the utter lunacy of an agency or -company/industry). Maddow's 'reveal' was people's use of a farm-animal treatment as if it were a human remedy!
We'll get into 'the "reason" behind that lunacy' in a moment (below the subscribe-bar); but first I want to understand that word (below linked to a Twitter-search for 'Trump supporters*') better. And I find you understand words better if you look at 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum)
The word “Faurmacy” is a portmanteau of the words Faux & Pharmacy.
Rachel 'wonders' (briefly) why people opt for these crazy 'homeopathologies,' but her show focused more on 'the fake remedies themselves' ...
- substances like
- Hydroxychloroquine - one that Donald Trump mentioned (back when he was President)
- Ivermectin - I don't know if Trump said anything about it (as he's been "kicked off of the social Internet" and the news-media hasn't been reporting much on his rallies), but it seems like 'the kind of medicine he & his supporters would "recommend".'
- ... any others?
... and -not so much on 'why these people use them instead of their doctors-prescribed medicines.' Oh, she might've touched on their "logic"; but 'the craziness' was too distracting to make 'the logic' very clear.
I think I discuss 'the logic' when I talk about some "alternative medicines" I'm sure you see all over the Internet (along with 'a chorus of researchers debunking the snake-oil salesmen's claims'). They do it because doctors these days aren't 'helpful health-consultants' as often as they are 'pharmaceutical pushers (loading patients up with "whatever drug the producers are paying them to prescribe" rather than "the remedy that usually works and/or -that the doctor knows will work best for the patient.")
Admittedly, the treatments listed are a bit of a modern spin on 'homeopathy'---rather than 'edible household products you find out you can use to treat disease,' it's 'poisonous products (either because they're for cleaning or -they're for farm-animals or something). But they're mostly for 'diseases that do not yet have a cure.'
*It's kind-of 'sad'; I search for "Trump supporters," and 80% of the search-results are 'intro texts' about "how much this person hates hearing from 'Trump supporters'!" 😟
