Saying #Goodbye (Yes, "Deaths" have happened; but #WhatBringsUpTheWordToday is Flash's (@AdobeNews) parting from @GoogleChrome in #December2020) | @Bing @HTMLstandard | #Bye #GBye #GoodBy #GoodBye

Well, 'Google Chrome explains "the parting ways with (this version of) Flash"' at the article hyperlinked-to below.

But what's important here is 'that word'---a word which you only know-about because it's connected to other words you know better, built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word β€œGoodbye” is based on an ancient contraction of the phrase God Be With Ye (influenced by the phrases GoodDay, GoodNight ... funny that those are 'parting salutations,' but #GoodMorning, #GoodAfternoon & #GoodEvening seem to be 'Greetings' πŸ€”).

When Chrome alerted me on the upcoming 'goodbye' and I started writing this post, I almost wanted to make it a list of important people who have "passed away"

(an 'emotionally fragile' way of saying they "died"? maybe ... you notice how they almost-never say the dead 'passed away' when they're talking about "death-tolls in wars or pandemics"? I guess they stop being "individual souls that matter" when the totals get above the double-digits, eh?)
