#DealingWithSelf #ModernTheology: My 'Many' #Lamentations Can Probably Be Summed-Up in One #Lament @TheBibleHub

Actually, I found this out from Shepherd's Chapel study-sessions where Pastor Arnold Murray repeatedly (at the beginning of a few episodes where he discusses the book of Lamentations) informs us that the original Hebrew for 'Lamentations' meant "Why?" (as in 'Why must we go through all this, God?')

'That word' (below-hyperlinked to BibleHub's presentation of the Scripture) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Lament” is built on words that mean “a Wailing, Moaning, Weeping” (to Shout, Cry; possibly related to Bark, Scold).

hmm ... no 'Why' ... let's look at the "original" ...

The Hebrew title of the book is אֵיכָה(‘Êykhôh), from its incipit meaning "How" ("How Lonely!" "How Deserted!" "How the Lord has Covered her in Shadow!" "How Dark the Gold has Tarnished!")

Whatever our Lamentations, we all might use Jesus' example (taking His life as 'a response to Israel's lamentations') as a lesson in how we should respond to our problems—basically just forgive your community for its past misuse of you, and set yourself to be what your community needs you to be.
